Evolving Socially is the third place winner of AIA Buffalo Emerging Professionals' Animal House Competition. There are many techniques for socializing a newly adopted shelter cat that require confinement with gradual introduction to new stimuli. Evolving Socially is based on the idea that the cat's new home should enable this transition. It involves four stages, each associated with the cat's acute senses: sound, smell, sight, and touch. The cat becomes more comfortable in its new environment as he or she progresses through each stage.  The modular kit of parts is inexpensive, easily constructed by slotting together, and comes in a flat-packed box.
